  • Entertainment Update for June 26, 2014

Coming attractions at our music stages for June 26, 2014:

    galen-ashGalen Nash:

Galen Ash effortlessly blends the timeless story telling of the wandering folk troubadour with intricate guitar work and a sense of modern urgency. Set across the harsh landscapes of the American West, his debut album The Age of Frozen Hearts stands in stark contrast to the current pop-folk revival: most of the tracks were recorded live and feature only Ash's fingerpicking and vocals. Fortunately, his guitar work is up to the task, and his vocals - somewhere between a young Leonard Cohen and a restrained Woody Guthrie - shine through on every song.

In 2011, Ash quit his office job to pursue music. He has since risen to the top of the Bay Area indie folk scene, opening for national touring acts while continuing to entertain passerbys on the street with his unique brand of roots music. A native of Olympia, WA, Ash is a dynamic one-man-band when playing solo, stomping on a homemade suitcase drum and tambourine while singing, picking and playing the harp. He is often joined by Peter Welch on mandolin and a troupe of other talented Bay Area artists.
